Drama written and directed by Kleber Mendonca Filho. The film follows Clara (Sonia Braga), a 65-year-old widow and retired music critic living in the Aquarius apartment buildings in the Brazilian city of Recife. With local property developers looking to buy her apartment back from her as part of their plans to redevelop the old building, Clara stands firm and refuses to sell up. Not willing to take no for an answer, chief designer Diego (Humberto Carrao) leads the other developers as they continually harass Clara in an attempt to force her out, causing her to further harden her stance and consider taking matters into her own hands.
