Description

Tom Conti and Helen Mirren star in this Scottish comedy written and directed by Charles Gormley. Vic Mathews (Conti) teaches at the Blessed Edith Semple School in Glasgow and is attracted to the new music teacher, Ruth Chancellor (Mirren). He believes in his students rather than in miracles but Father Cobb (Brian Pettifer) is campaigning for Blessed Edith to be elevated to sainthood. The Vatican are unimpressed with the evidence he provides in support of this and so he returns to the school and prays to Blessed Edith to heal the sick. When miracles seemingly do begin to occur, with Vic at the centre of the inexplicable phenomena, he is forced to reconsider his beliefs. The cast also includes David Hayman, Dave Anderson and Ewen Bremner.
