Jeff Nichols writes and directs this American sci-fi drama starring Michael Shannon, Kirsten Dunst, Adam Driver and Joel Edgerton. The film follows Roy (Shannon) as he is forced to go on the run with his eight-year-old son Alton (Jaeden Lieberher), who has begun to exhibit extraordinary powers. Having kidnapped his son from the religious cult he abandoned with his ex-wife Sarah (Dunst), Roy must protect Alton from its leader Calvin Meyer (Sam Shepard) as well as government agent Paul Sevier (Driver) who are both in close pursuit. Driving only at night, Roy and his brother Lucas (Edgerton) let Alton guide them cross-country for reasons only the child knows.
