Description

Wim Wenders directs this documentary paying tribute to the work of avant-garde German dance choreographer Pina Bausch. Originally intended to follow Bausch at work in rehearsals and on tour, the nature of the film altered dramatically when the choreographer died of cancer just two days before shooting began. Instead, Wenders tells the story of Pina, a leading influence in modern dance since the 1970s, through interweaving interviews with her dancers and those who knew her well with excerpts from her stage works themselves. The result is a portrait of a woman dedicated to her profession and determined to leave an artistic legacy.
