Jimmy Edwards, David Tomlinson and Laurence Harvey star in Ken Annakin's adaptation of the Jerome K. Jerome novel, set in Edwardian England. Harris, Jerome and George (Edwards, Tomlinson and Harvey) decide to go on a boating holiday along the River Thames to Oxford to get away from their everyday lives. Each with a different motive for escape, the men begin to relax when they meet three young ladies - Sophie, Bluebell and Primrose (Shirley Eaton, Jill Ireland and Lisa Gastoni) who evoke their attention. When their London lives catch up with them, chaos ensues and they must decide what is more important to them. The cast also includes Martita Hunt, Noelle Middleton and Joan Haythorne.
