Description

Christian Petzold writes and directs this German-French drama based on the novel by novel by Anna Seghers. The film follows young Jew Georg (Franz Rogowski) as he flees Nazi-occupied Paris and travels to Marseille. There, he assumes the identity of a deceased writer named Weidel to secure safe passage out of the country. As he waits to set sail, Georg befriends Weidel's wife Marie (Paula Beer), who is also looking to escape before the Nazi raids begin tearing through the port city.
