Matt Smith stars as Charles Manson in this biopic about the infamous criminal cult leader and three of his most trusted female members during the late 1960s. Leslie Van Houten (Hannah Murray), Patricia Krenwinkel (Sosie Bacon) and Susan Atkins (Marianne Rendón) are incarcerated in adjoining cells after their involvement in several murders from 1969 when newly graduated Karlene Faith (Merritt Wever) is assigned with running adult education classes.
