Garrett Hedlund and Jason Mitchell star in this historical drama co-written and directed by Dee Rees. Two men, one white and one black, return to their homes in rural Mississippi after serving in World War II and discover that although they have changed, the world has not. Jamie McAllan (Hedlund) struggles with alcoholism and PTSD whilst Ronsel Jackson (Mitchell) misses the white German woman he fell in love with during the war. As the two men bond, Jamie's deeply racist father Pappy (Jonathan Banks) and members of the Ku Klux Klan turn their attention to Ronsel, forcing Jamie to take a stand against his father. The cast also includes Carey Mulligan, Jason Clarke, Mary J. Blige and Rob Morgan.
