Single mother Megan (Cameron Bure) adopts a dog for her young daughter Caitlin (Katie Hawkins) who has been struggling to make friends since moving to a new neighbourhood. The dog, Jake, creates chaos in Megan's home but Caitlin quickly forms a strong bond with him. Jake's real owner Ben (Webster) turns up and explains that the dog ran off when the garden gate was left open but when he sees how attached Caitlin is to her canine friend Ben agrees to share him with her.
