Lasse Hallström directs this comedy drama starring Helen Mirren. Top class chef Madame Mallory (Mirren) has a reputation that she has worked extremely hard to achieve. When Papa Kadam (Om Puri) and his family move from India to open a restaurant in Paris on the other side of the street, Madame Mallory is furious and does everything in her power to get them to leave. As she gets to know the family however she discovers that the eldest son Hassan (Manish Dayal) has a very special talent in the kitchen.
