US action feature starring Robert Redford, James Gandolfini and Mark Ruffalo. Eugene Irwin (Redford) is a high-ranking officer in the US Army and the latest inmate to arrive at the military prison known as 'The Castle'. The general feeling in the prison is one of cynicism and despondency, but Irwin refuses to be beaten by the situation and soon rallies his fellow inmates into rebuilding a historic wall in the prison yard. When chief warden Colonel Winter (Gandolfini) then orders the wall destroyed in an attempt to break the men's newly buoyant moral, Irwin resolves to have Winter removed from his job, and the two men are soon caught in an all-consuming battle of wills.
