Australian drama from film-maker Warwick Thornton, starring Cate Blanchett, Aswan Reid and Deborah Mailman. In 1940s Australia, a nine-year-old Aboriginal boy (Reid) is found roaming the outback alone and taken to a remote monastery for indigenous children. Sister Eileen (Blanchett), who runs the monastery, observes that the unnamed boy has incredible powers and a spiritual connection which contradicts her teachings. Conflicted by her beliefs and her inclination to subvert the rules she is expected to follow, Sister Eileen must decide whether to nurture the boy's mysterious powers or suppress them.
