Triple bill of Japanese dramas directed by Yasujirô Ozu. In 'Record of a Tenement Gentleman' (1947) Kohei (Hôhi Aoki) follows fortune teller Tashiro (Chishû Ryû) home after he becomes separated from his father while visiting Tokyo. Tashiro and his friends are struggling in the aftermath of the war but Kohei's brief presence in their lives changes their perspective on life. The silent drama 'Dragnet Girl' (1933) follows Tokiko (Kinuyo Tanaka), a typist, and her boyfriend Joji (Jôji Oka), a small-time gangster. When she realises that Joji is attracted to another woman, her priorities change, but will she be able to find the redemption she seeks? Finally, in 'A Hen in the Wind' (1948) Tokiko (Tanaka) awaits her husband's return from the war. Barely able to make ends meet, when her four-year-old son becomes sick, she is unable to pay for his care. Desperate, she prostitutes herself for one night but when her husband returns and learns what she did to save their son, he struggles to forgive her.
